Fantasy players can create up to three teams with one BasketNews Fantasy account. A €10,000,000 budget is designated to form a team that consists of 10 players from three different positions:
Each player has a monetary value that changes over the course of the game based on the player's real-life performance on the basketball court.
Before the start of every round, fantasy managers have to choose a starting five of the 10 players they selected. All members of the starting five will bring 100% of their points to the overall tally.
Fantasy managers can choose the formation of the starting five. There are five different ways a starting five can be placed on the court:
Fantasy managers can choose the formation before every round to maximize the points scored. The formation can be changed after each day of the round.
The 6th Man (the leftmost on the bench) will bring 100% of the points as well.
Team captain will bring 200% of his fantasy points to the team’s total.
Team captain can be changed between the days of the round, i.e., after the end of the last game of Day 1 and before the start of the first game of Day 2.
The players of the starting five and the 6th man can be changed between the days of the round. After the start of the round, only the players who haven’t played can be newly selected into the starting five and chosen as the 6th man from the bench.
All players left on the bench will give 50% of their fantasy points to the team’s total.
In the LKL mode, fantasy managers can change (trade) a maximum of four players in a single round. In the EuroLeague mode, managers can change (trade) a maximum of three players.
The number of trades allowed can be changed in special cases according to circumstances.
Fantasy managers can reset their trades between rounds and construct the roster anew. If the reset is performed, it will bring back the team to the roster that was present at the end of the previous round.
Players can be traded until the start of the first game of the round.
New players cannot be traded into the team during the round, i.e., from the start of the first game of the round until the end of the last game of the round.
Players can be traded only within their designated positions. For example, a guard cannot be changed into a forward.
After performing a trade, the team’s budget will change according to the difference between the prices of the two players.
The fantasy points each player scores depend on individual and team performance.
The player’s efficiency score, or PIR, as defined by the official boxscores of the tournament, acts as the basis of the fantasy score. Each player will receive a bonus or a penalty depending on the player team’s performance.
If the player’s team loses, the player will receive a 10% fantasy points penalty. If the player’s team wins, the player will get a 10% fantasy points bonus.
For example, if a player scores 10 PIR points and his team WINS the game, the player will earn 11 fantasy points (10 + 10x0.1). If a player scores 10 PIR points and his team LOSES the game, the player will earn 9 fantasy points (10 -10x0.1).
Team Captain will score 200% of his fantasy points.
Each fantasy team automatically participates in two leagues:
Private Leagues
Private leagues are only accessible to their creators (Commissioners) and the managers who received an invite code from the Commissioner.
There is no limit to how many leagues a single team or user can join.
Private League‘s Creator/Commissioner
The Commissioner can change the private league‘s format and settings.
The Commissioner can choose a league model – classic all-against-all or head-to-head.
The Commissioner can send an invite code for all league members.
The Commissioner can add or remove a team, except when teams are already confirmed in head-to-head leagues.
The Commissioner has to choose a league model from two options – all-against-all and head-to-head.
If a classic all-against-all model is chosen, every team in the league will be ranked by the total points scored by each team.
If an alternative method – head-to-head – is chosen, the system generates a schedule after the Live Draft, where each league manager will compete against a select other league member each week during the season.
One point is given for a head-to-head win and no points for a loss. If there is a tie, an improbable outcome, both fantasy managers receive 0.5 points for the round.
It is recommended to have an equal number of participants in a league if the head-to-head model is chosen. Otherwise, one of the managers will not have an opponent each week and will compete against the league average.
Important: Regardless of the league model, the Commissioner can choose one of the two.
The winner of the General League will be determined by the total amount of points scored at the end of the tournament. The team with the most fantasy points will win.
Each National League will be won by the team with the most fantasy points out of all teams from the respective country.
The top 5 fantasy teams will be awarded prizes for their performance.
